This maybe a question between Max and Maya, but how to you get the normals to work well together with the leaf, branches, frond, etc. Is it something having to do with the tangent normals? I am not sure how to do that in Maya (maybe average normals, idk, I'll look it up) and I'm pretty sure you do your work in Max.
With the glow/spec, is that the sud-surface scattering with the leaves? Do you get that from zbrush matcap or something else?
I know that this is a really nice tutorial for foliage. I haven't watched it. [link]
I am always really impressive and inspired by your work. I am trying my hand at some organic work right now too. Your work is helps me understand how to do things better. Thank you for posting you work. :3
This looks really great! If I may ask: do you paint the texture yourself? And is there any chance to have a tutorial for making such stuff? Or maybe you can sum up your workflow and the programs / techniques you used for this in a few lines?

Believe in yourself...anything can happen...
The translucent map is for SSS, the glow works with the specular map.
